Hikers near the summit of Near Point
This photo shows the beautiful North Fork Valley of Campbell Creek in the
background. Transfer of the Near Point land would provide a new and
direct access to this valley leading up to Long Lake. One of the
premier hikes in the Chugach is the route going up the North Fork and then
traversing over to the Williwa Lakes, and descending the Middle Fork Valley.

A trail along the
north flank of Near Point would create easy ski access to this valley during
the winter, passing below Near Point's summit.
